This blog project started as a desire to log my personal journey, entering a new country, learning a language and hopefully, starting a job in Japan. The aim of this blog was to share with others my experience as I draw inspiration from online creators like Jervis’ TikTok and Xuan's Blogspot.

Some tags are in Japanese to signal which entries are written in Japanese instead of the default English.

 

pre-Tokyo Series

What is pre-Tokyo Series?

This is a seven-part series documenting my considerations and choices when choosing to move to Tokyo to study, and forgoing my career in Singapore.

What are the topics covered?

I cover topics on what it was like leaving my job, how I chose Tokyo, and the final school of choice. I also talk about my journey applying to two schools, along with the paperwork required, and other factors to think of when finding housing, opening bank account, phone plans and more.

 

Memoji Series or メモジ

What is Memoji?

It’s a term I used, combining memo + emoji. I love tweets and everything short, hence, a memo. I also love emojis and using pictures and pictorials to illustrate, hence, emojis. 

This is a little informal series, sharing short spontaneous updates of my journey.

101 series

This is a special series as I journal the little things I find more interesting about living in Japan, and want to focus on the topic.

 

Shuukki Series

What is SHUUKI?

The name is derived from the Chinese weekly updates called 周记（zhou1ji4）which is similar to diary or 日記（にっき） in Japanese.

This is a regular weekly series within TOKYO BOUND blog.

 

Monthly Wase

What is Monthly Wase?

It is a monthly update specifically reviewing on the courses I attended. This would focus on the curriculum for others to consider in the future.

This is a regular series I am doing within TOKYO BOUND blog.

 

[WIP] 日記

From a physical book I am writing, will share some of my travelling journeys (with photos) using the basic grammar I’m learning along the way. This series will only be in Japanese 日本語.
